Air quality today

The current assessment for Bilbao places the air quality in the Good category. The primary pollutant identified is PM2.5, with a reference concentration of 4.0 µg/m³, while PM10 is referenced at 11.0 µg/m³. Sixteen valid measurements contribute to this evaluation. The evaluation draws on sixteen recent observations collected across the city. Each observation records concentrations of particulate matter, allowing the system to compare them against the reference levels of 4.0 µg/m³ for PM2.5 and 11.0 µg/m³ for PM10. The resulting classification reflects the aggregate of these measurements.

Data is shown via OpenAQ. The figures represent the most recent set of data available for the city. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

The Bilbao air‑quality feed contains measurements for carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen monoxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), particulate matter ≤ 10 µm (PM10), particulate matter ≤ 2.5 µm (PM2.5) and sulphur dioxide (SO₂). Data come from seven monitoring stations and a total of 32 recorded rows. For the most recent snapshot, 17 rows were logged within the last 30 days, while the remaining 15 rows are older than that period; no observations are from today or the past week.

Coverage differs across pollutants. CO and NO are each reported from only two stations, with the latest CO value of 260 µg/m³ recorded at MAZARREDO on 2026‑02‑09 15:00 UTC and the most recent NO reading of 1 µg/m³ from ES1713A on 2024‑01‑16 23:00 UTC. In contrast, NO₂ and PM10 appear in all seven stations, showing a median of 17 µg/m³ (range 1–41) for NO₂ and a median of 11 µg/m³ (range 2–19) for PM10. PM2.5 is measured at six stations with a median of 7.5 µg/m³ (range 2–12), while SO₂ is present at five stations, median 6 µg/m³ (range 4–7). Ozone, captured at three stations, has a median of 56 µg/m³ and spans 45 to 75 µg/m³.

Overall, the dataset provides a fairly recent picture for most pollutants, but the presence of older rows and the limited station count for CO and NO mean that conditions can vary across the city and over time. Users should keep in mind that the freshest timestamps are from 2026‑02‑09 15:00 UTC for most species, whereas NO data is over two years old, reflecting uneven temporal coverage.

Data notes

The dataset for Bilbao includes 16 valid measurements and is updated within 30 days. The most recent data were recorded on 2026-02-09 at 15:00 UTC. This snapshot reflects conditions at the time of collection, but air quality can vary by location and time within the city, so values may differ from current or neighborhood‑specific readings.
