Air quality today

The air quality in Bristol today is classified as Good. The main pollutant identified is PM2.5 (fine particles). Measurements show a PM2.5 value of 3.0 µg/m³ and a PM10 value of 7.0 µg/m³, based on five valid observations recorded through OpenAQ.

Overall conditions meet the Good category criteria according to the latest assessment. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

The Bristol air‑quality dataset contains eight measured pollutants – nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), particulate matter 1 (PM₁), PM₂.5, PM₁₀, relative humidity, temperature and ultrafine particle count (UM003). These values come from a total of 23 rows recorded at five monitoring stations across the city. Freshness varies markedly: only five rows were updated within the last seven days, twelve are classified as old (last update before July 2025), and six have an unknown timestamp. The most recent measurements for NO₂, O₃, PM₁₀ and PM₂.5 were all taken on 2026‑02‑10 at 20:00 UTC, while the remaining variables – PM₁, relative humidity, temperature and UM003 – date back to 2025‑07‑05 at 09:00 UTC.

Across the recent data, NO₂ shows a very narrow range, from 58.0 µg/m³ minimum to 58.52 µg/m³ maximum, with a median of 58.26 µg/m³; O₃ is a single value of 35.0 µg/m³ at the same site and time. Particulate matter displays broader variability: PM₁₀ values span 5.5 to 55.81 µg/m³ (median ≈ 18.02 µg/m³), while PM₂.5 ranges from 0.95 to 25.72 µg/m³ (median = 3.0 µg/m³). The older PM₁ data, recorded at Cotham Gardens Primary top site, range from 0.29 to 26.28 µg/m³ with a median of 17.30 µg/m³, indicating higher typical concentrations than the newer fine‑particle measurements.

The ancillary variables also show limited recent coverage. Relative humidity values are clustered between 48.65 % and 62.91 % (median ≈ 62.32 %), temperature stays within a narrow band of 19.57 °C to 20.80 °C (median ≈ 19.60 °C), and UM003 particle counts vary from 227.06 to 4,362.84 particles/cm³ (median ≈ 3,916). Because many rows are old or lack timestamps, the dataset does not capture current spatial or temporal fluctuations fully; conditions in different neighbourhoods or at later times may differ from what these snapshots show.
