Air quality today

The air quality in Burnaby today is classified as Good. The primary pollutant identified is PM2.5 (fine particles).

Measurements show a PM2.5 reference value of 2.2 µg/m³ and a PM10 reference value of 5.0 µg/m³, based on 13 valid observations collected via OpenAQ. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

Burnaby’s open‑air quality feed includes eight measured compounds: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), fine particulate matter (PM₂.5), coarse particulate matter (PM₁₀), ultrafine particles (PM₁) and sulfur dioxide (SO₂). The dataset draws from three monitoring stations, giving a total of 18 recent rows, but only five of those rows have timestamps that are clearly identified as “updated within 3 days.” The remaining entries are either older than three days or lack a timestamp altogether, so the overall freshness is limited.

For the pollutants with recent data, the observed values cluster near the lower end of their ranges. PM₂.5 varies from 1.7 to 24.3 µg/m³, with a median of 2.2 µg/m³; NO spans 0.0015–0.0019 ppm (median 0.0017 ppm); NO₂ runs 0.0033–0.0071 ppm (median 0.0052 ppm); O₃ is tightly grouped between 0.031 and 0.032 ppm (median 0.0315 ppm); PM₁₀ ranges from 3.0 to 5.0 µg/m³ (median 4.0 µg/m³); SO₂ is constant at 0.0002 ppm; CO shows a single reported value of 0.2 ppm. PM₁ has no recorded measurement, listed as missing.

The coverage across pollutants is uneven: while CO, NO, NO₂, O₃, PM₂.5, PM₁₀ and SO₂ each have at least two recent observations, PM₁ lacks any data point, and the overall number of stations reporting each pollutant differs. Because many rows are old or lack timestamps, the snapshot may not reflect current conditions throughout Burnaby; air quality can differ between locations such as Kensington Park and Burnaby South and change over time.

Data notes

The data shown reflects 13 valid measurements and is marked as Updated within 3 days, with the most recent update recorded at 2026‑02‑10T22:00:00+00:00. While these figures provide a current snapshot of air quality across Burnaby, conditions can differ by specific neighbourhoods and change throughout the day, so local variations may not be captured in this summary.
