Mr. Duck – Unhealthy for sensitive groups

Unhealthy for sensitive groups for Chaoyang District, Beijing, China

⚠️ This website is currently under active development. Some data may be incomplete or temporarily inaccurate. For health-critical decisions, please verify information through official government or environmental sources.
Categories follow US EPA AQI breakpoints for PM (estimate from latest valid measurements; this project does not compute EPA NowCast/24-hour AQI yet).

This friendly indicator summarizes the latest city readings. For health guidance, please see: EPA AirNow or WHO.

Air quality today

The overall air quality today is classified as USG. The main pollutant identified is PM2.5 (fine particles). The reported PM2.5 value is 43.6 µg/m³, representing the average of the recent sampling period. No PM10 data is available for this assessment. A total of five measurements were used to determine the current level.

Data is shown via OpenAQ. The concentration is expressed in micrograms per cubic meter, a standard unit for particulate matter reporting. The USG category indicates the level of air quality as defined by the assessment methodology. These figures are derived from the latest available dataset and are presented without interpretation. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

The OpenAQ feed for Chaoyang District in Beijing contains 27 measurement rows drawn from five monitoring stations. All of the listed pollutants—carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), particulate matter PM₁, PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, relative humidity, sulfur dioxide (SO₂), temperature and the UM003 parameter—are represented in the schema, although the current snapshot provides actual values only for CO, NO₂, O₃ (both µg m⁻³ and ppm), SO₂, PM₁, PM₁₀ and PM₂.₅; data for relative humidity, temperature and UM003 are not present in the recent rows.

Freshness of the data is uneven. Five rows have been updated within the last 30 days, while the remaining 22 rows are classified as “old,” with timestamps ranging from August 2021 to December 2024. The newest measurements are the PM₂.₅ and PM₁ values recorded on 2026‑01‑25 07:00 UTC, and an O₃ reading in ppm from 2025‑03‑04 12:00 UTC. In contrast, CO, NO₂, O₃ (µg m⁻³) and SO₂ all date back to 2021‑08‑09 11:00 UTC, making them the least recent parts of the set.

The numeric spread shows modest variability for the fine particles: PM₂.₅ ranges from 10.0 to 43.64 µg m⁻³ with a median of 26.5 µg m⁻³, while PM₁₀ spans 27.0 to 86.0 µg m⁻³ and a median of 34.16 µg m⁻³. CO values sit between 400 and 600 µg m⁻³ (median 500 µg m⁻³), and O₃ (µg m⁻³) varies from 31 to 209 µg m⁻³ (median 187 µg m⁻³). The single PM₁ observation is 26.86 µg m⁻³. Because many rows are dated several years old, the dataset captures only a snapshot of conditions and may not reflect current spatial or temporal variations across the district.
