What the data includes

The OpenAQ feed for Charlotte includes data from six monitoring stations covering a total of twenty‑seven rows, each reporting one or more of the following pollutants: CO, NO, NO2, NOX, O3, PM1, PM10, PM2.5, RELATIVEHUMIDITY, SO2, TEMPERATURE and UM003. The most recent observations were recorded on 2026-02-11 00:00 UTC for most variables, with the exception of PM10, whose latest reading is from 2026-02-10 23:00 UTC. All listed pollutants have at least one fresh measurement within the past seven days, so the dataset reflects current conditions rather than historic or unknown values.

Across the city the measured concentrations show a modest spread. For fine particulate matter (PM2.5) the median value is 12.4 µg/m³, ranging from near zero up to about 19.9 µg/m³; the highest single reading recorded was 11.8 µg/m³ at Friendship Park on the most recent date. Coarse particles (PM10) have a median of 14.4 µg/m³ and a maximum of 27.0 µg/m³ observed at Garinger. Carbon monoxide levels are low, with a median of 0.25 ppm and a peak of 0.3 ppm measured at Remount. Nitrogen oxides show similar patterns: NO peaks at 0.0029 ppm, NO2 at 0.008 ppm and the combined NOX at 0.0107 ppm, all recorded at Remount on the same day. PM1 values are higher in absolute terms, with a median of 6.4 µg/m³ and a maximum of 12.79 µg/m³ reported from a central Charlotte site.

Relative humidity readings illustrate another dimension of the dataset: the median is 37.4 % and the most recent maximum reaches 40.72 % at the same Charlotte location. Overall, while the number of stations is modest, each pollutant has recent data, though coverage is uneven—some pollutants such as O3, SO2, TEMPERATURE and UM003 are listed but have no rows in the current snapshot, indicating that those measurements are not presently available for Charlotte. Consequently, city‑wide air quality conditions can still vary by neighborhood and time of day, and the present data capture only a slice of that variability.
