Air quality today

The air quality in Cork is classified as “USG”. The primary pollutant identified for today is PM2.5 (fine particles). Measurements show a PM2.5 concentration of 38.0 µg/m³ and a corresponding PM10 reference value of 20.7 µg/m³, based on 21 valid observations.

Data are shown via OpenAQ. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

The dataset for Cork contains measurements from seven monitoring sites and a total of thirty individual data rows. All ten pollutants tracked by the OpenAQ feed are represented: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), particulate matter 1 µm (PM₁), PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, relative humidity, sulfur dioxide (SO₂), temperature and ultrafine particle count (UM003). The most recent observations were recorded on 2026‑02‑10, with timestamps ranging from 13:00 UTC for NO₂ and O₃ to 20:00 UTC for PM₁, temperature, relative humidity and UM003, meaning every pollutant has at least one reading that is less than three days old.

Across the city the recorded values show a fairly narrow spread for some variables and a broader range for others. For example, PM₁ measurements vary only between 25.24 µg/m³ and 25.86 µg/m³, with a median of about 25.55 µg/m³, indicating very consistent readings at the University College Cork site. In contrast, O₃ ranges from 2.57 µg/m³ up to 74.12 µg/m³, with a median of 53.74 µg/m³ and a 90th‑percentile near 70 µg/m³, highlighting greater variability across the monitored locations. PM₂.₅ also shows considerable spread, from a low of 3.0 µg/m³ to a high of 38.02 µg/m³, with the median sitting at 14.22 µg/m³.

The coverage is uneven: while PM₁, temperature, relative humidity and UM003 each have data from only two recent rows, pollutants such as NO₂, O₃ and the particulate fractions benefit from three to seven recent entries. No rows are flagged as unknown or extremely old, but a small number of older records (nine) remain in the set, so conditions can still differ by neighbourhood and time of day. Overall, the data give a current snapshot of air quality in Cork, with fresh readings for all pollutants but varying depth of observation across the city’s monitoring network.
