Air quality today

The air quality in Hualpén today is classified as Moderate. The primary pollutant identified is PM2.5, fine particulate matter measured against a reference value of 16.0 µg/m³. Data from nine valid measurements also show a PM10 reference value of 35.0 µg/m³.

These figures are presented through OpenAQ and reflect the current monitoring snapshot for the city. This page is informational; for health guidance, use official sources such as EPA AirNow or WHO.

What the data includes

The dataset for Hualpén includes six measured pollutants – carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), particulate matter ≤10 µm (PM10), particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) and sulfur dioxide (SO₂). Data come from 15 individual rows collected at three monitoring stations, giving a modest spatial coverage across the city. The most recent observations are for PM10, PM2.5 and SO₂, all recorded on 2026‑02‑10 13:00 UTC at the Bocatoma station, while CO, NO₂ and O₃ are only available from an older snapshot dated 2021‑08‑20 21:00 UTC at the JUNJI station.

Across the newer particulate measurements, PM10 values range from a low of 22.0 µg/m³ to a high of 35.0 µg/m³ with a median of 28.0 µg/m³; PM2.5 spans 15.0‑16.0 µg/m³ (median 16.0 µg/m³). SO₂ shows a broader spread, from 12.85 µg/m³ up to 88.77 µg/m³, median 13.57 µg/m³, indicating occasional higher concentrations at Bocatoma. The older gas‑phase data are less current: CO varies between 566.12 and 824.41 µg/m³ (median 695.27 µg/m³), NO₂ from 28.85 to 34.95 µg/m³ (median 31.90 µg/m³) and O₃ from 29.54 to 33.81 µg/m³ (median 31.68 µg/m³). For each of these three pollutants the 10th‑percentile values sit near the minima, while the 90th‑percentile values approach the maxima, reflecting a relatively tight distribution in the limited historic record.

Overall, the dataset is uneven: half of the pollutant types have fresh measurements within the last few days, whereas the other half rely on data that are more than four years old. This mix means that while recent particulate information gives a current snapshot of air quality at Bocatoma, conditions for CO, NO₂ and O₃ can only be inferred from older readings at JUNJI, and actual values may differ across neighborhoods and times not captured in the available rows.

Data notes

The data shown for Hualpén reflects nine valid measurements and is marked as Updated within 3 days, with the latest values recorded on 2026‑02‑10 at 13:00 UTC. This snapshot provides a recent view of ambient conditions, but air quality can differ across neighborhoods and change throughout the day, so local variations may not be captured in these aggregate figures.
